The International Biomechanics Symposium
Kyalami Equestrian Park, Johannesburg, South Africa
9 -13 May 2026
Why Are So Many Riding Problems So Hard To Solve?
Crookedness | Tension | Saddle fit issues | Training plateaus
Most riders try to solve these problems in isolation. The International Biomechanics Symposium brings together the world's leading experts to explore how the rider, horse, equipment and training interact.
How the Symposium Works
This event is designed so riders can build their own learning experience. You can attend demonstrations, watch lessons, or ride in lessons yourself. Here’s how the booking works.
Day 1
Demonstration Day
Demo Day is booked separately. Anyone attending Demo Day must book a Demo Day ticket.

8Am to 9Am
Alejandra GonzalezÂ

1:00Pm - 3:00Pm
Anne Muller
This gives you access to all demonstrations on Day 1

10:30Am to 12:30Pm
Amanda Anderson

3:30Pm - 5:30Pm
Simon Cocozza
This is all the demos & 4 days of spectating (No riding included)
Day 2-5
Spectator Access
If you want to watch lessons during the week, you need a Spectator Ticket.

A spectator ticket gives you access to:
• watching ridden lessons
• observing training sessions
• being part of the learning environment

Spectators do not participate in ridden lessons or specialised trainings.
R250 per day
R750 for all days
This is all the demos & 4 days of spectating (No riding included)
Day 2-5
Booking Sessions
Session bookings include:
-
Your scheduled 1–1, paired, or group session or training with the selected instructor
-
Full spectator access for that day, allowing you to observe other lessons and clinics across arenas
This structure allows riders to learn not only from their own session, but also by observing different approaches, horses, and rider patterns throughout the week.
Many riders choose to book multiple lessons with different trainers to get different perspectives.

Anne Muller
Anne Muller is an internationally respected educator, trainer, and founder of Akasha College, where she has spent nearly three decades teaching riders and professionals how biomechanics, behaviour, and welfare intersect. Her work combines rider biomechanics with equine learning theory and nervous-system awareness, helping riders understand not only how to ride, but why certain patterns create ease or tension for both horse and rider.
Ridden Sessions include a dismounted session
Every afternoon at 4pm

Alejandra Gonzalez
Alejandra González (Ale) is a 4-Star Embodied Rider Biomechanics Coach and Faculty Member with Train Your Seat, specialising in helping riders organise their bodies more effectively so riding feels clearer, lighter, and more connected. With over 20 years of experience in movement education, Ale blends rider biomechanics, neuroscience, and functional movement to teach riders how to sit, move, and apply aids with less effort and greater awareness. Her lessons are practical, structured, and kind — ideal for riders who are ready to actively work on posture, coordination, and influence in the saddle.

Simon Cocozza
Simon is one of the worlds top trainers in equine biomechanics and postural rehabilitation. He is the author of Core Conditioning for Horses, a system used worldwide to help horses develop balance, strength, and long-term soundness through functional, gymnastic retraining. Simon holds the prestigious Brevet Professionnelle (Professeur d’Équitation) from the French Equestrian Federation and works extensively with both high-performance athletes and rehabilitation cases, including horses diagnosed with kissing spine (ODSP). His work bridges classical training and modern science to develop a horses posture and movement in the most harmonious way.

Amanda Anderson
Amanda makes it possible to identify how the saddle and equipment influence posture, muscle development, and movement patterns - allowing horses to work in comfort, reduce restriction, and develop correct topline and strength.
Many horses, often without their riders realising it, compensate for pressure, poor saddle balance, or instability by shortening the stride, bracing the back, becoming girthy, rushing, or "shutting down". These compensations are frequently the real reason training and rehabilitation seem to stall.
Amanda helps riders, bodyworkers, veterinarians, and saddle fitters clearly understand where pressure is coming from, how it affects biomechanics, and what changes truly benefit the horse - replacing guesswork with clarity. In her group workshops, Amanda will explore the relationship between saddle fit, rider balance, and functional movement, showing how small adjustments can transform comfort, way of going, and long-term soundness.
8Am-12PM every day

Future Rider Pony Camp
10 May
The Future Riders Pony Camp is a one-day immersive learning experience created to shape the next generation of ethical, knowledgeable horse people.
Designed for children aged 8–12, this camp sits within the International Biomechanics Symposium and offers something rarely available to young riders: direct access to world-leading educators in biomechanics, welfare, and horse–human interaction, delivered in a way that is engaging, age-appropriate, and deeply formative.
This is not a traditional pony camp. It is an introduction to how horses really work, physically, mentally, and emotionally, and how a rider’s body, balance, and choices influence the horse underneath them.
Support this Event
The International Biomechanics Symposium brings together a highly engaged audience of riders, coaches, bodyworkers, judges, and horse owners who care deeply about how horses and riders move, train, and perform. Our exhibitors and sponsors are selected to complement the educational focus of the week, offering products, services, and innovations that support biomechanics, welfare, longevity, and ethical performance.
Sponsorship opportunities may include:
Brand visibility across arenas and demo day
Inclusion in event communications and media
Alignment with specific clinicians or education streams
Direct engagement with riders and professionals
Exhibitor spaces are available for brands offering products or services that support:
